Android 6.0 Marshmallow images land for Nexus devices: how to download now

Unknown

Last week’s big Google announcements marked the formal arrival of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, as the company revealed the first two handsets to debut running the platform: the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P. More than that, though, the event also brought word of the coming availability of Marshmallow releases for existing Nexus devices. We had already heard that Google could get that ball rolling today, on October 5, and its announcement confirmed that distribution was set to get underway this week. Right on schedule, the factory images are in – not just for one or two models, but seemingly for every Nexus device confirmed to be making the journey to Marshmallow.

Android 6.0 images are available for the Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 9, Nexus 7 2013, and Nexus Player. Notably for those two tablets, downloads are available for both WiFi-only and cellular-connected editions as of today – no extra waiting for the latter.

It’s only a matter of time now before we have confirmation of OTA updates heading out to all these devices. And following that, it won’t be long before users capture the update URLs and provide them for others to get a head start on the process. But if you’ve absolutely got to be first on your block with a finished, non-preview copy of Android Marshmallow, these factory images are just your ticket.

You’ll find all the info you need on flashing them to your hardware, along with the download links themselves, on the Google page linked below.
