HTC finished out September by setting the date for its next launch event: presumably scheduled to introduce the rumored One A9, it announced this #BeBrilliant event for October 20. Officially, all the company said was that we’d get to see its “fall hero” debut, and that the phone would run Android 6.0 Marshmallow. With a week to go until the announcement lands, HTC’s once again teasing the launch, offering a little extra confirmation of what to expect in the process.
The company’s new video teaser is full of stark black-and-white footage, jumping from a barren landscape, to an interstellar asteroid, to some close-up shots of water, earth, and wind – we know, it’s all very art school. And in sharing the clip the manufacturer also confirms another detail about the phone – one we might have assumed from that hero-phone characterization, but something that’s good to see spelled out all the same: next week’s phone will very much be a One-series handset.
So while HTC continues to hold back on confirming that we’re about to get the One A9 (gotta leave something for launch day, right?) it’s difficult to imagine we’re talking about anything else.
Check back with Pocketnow next Tuesday for full details of HTC’s launch announcement.
