Leaked OnePlus X leaflet may have solved Chinese pricing puzzle once and for all

How much money would you be willing to pay for a smaller, slightly lower-end OnePlus 2 derivation dubbed X, with an emphasis on style rather than power, and possibly a glass-made back panel? The equivalent of $220probably sounds positively dreamy, and $250 isn’t excessive either.

What about $267, though? Is the OnePlus X drawing dangerously close to the 5.5-inch “2016 flagship killer’s” $330 tag? Mind you, we don’t expect any entry-level internal storage boost after all, and the RAM should get downgraded from 3 to 2GB, while the octa-core Snapdragon 810 SoC will likely be swapped for a quad SD801.

Still, the 16GB data-accommodating OnePlus “Mini” isn’t shaping up to be a featherweight by any standards, so as long as the Chinese device manufacturer keeps retail costs below the $300 mark, a decent degree of customer interest is impending.

But the world’s largest smartphone market is also one of the most competitive, especially at the low end of the spectrum, which is why oftentimes local prices are hiked on the Western hemisphere. Bottom line, just because we have this unauthorized poster listing the OnePlus X at CNY 1,699, it doesn’t mean stateside it’ll convert to $267 or even $270. It could be precisely $300, which would still feel fair if a new rumor of 3GB on-board RAM pans out.

Insiders tell us attendees of the October 29 announcement events may get the chance to buy the X for only 1,099 Yuan ($173), which is certainly an original stunt we’ve come to expect from OnePlus. Oh, and there’s three quarters of the upcoming phone’s front panel above, if you can make out any interesting details.
