As expected, Motorola  today launched the Moto X Style in India. Equipped with competitive hardware onboard and priced in the upper mid-range bracket, the Moto X Style will go head-to-head with the likes of OnePlus 2 and LG Nexus 5X, which is expected to launch in India on October 13. We compare the new Motorola smartphone with its closest rivals on the price, specifications and features fronts. Here’s the comparison:
Price: The Moto X Style is priced at Rs 29,999 for 16GB variant and Rs 31,999 for 32GB variant. It will be exclusively available via Flipkart starting October 14. The OnePlus 2 is exclusive to Amazon India and is priced at Rs 24,999. As it is sold via OnePlus’ invite only system, it is not easily available. On the other hand, the LG Nexus 5X is all set to launch on October 13. It’s already listed on Google’s Play Store and is priced at Rs 31,900 for the 16GB variant. However, there is no word on the price and availability of the 32GB variant.

Specifications and features: The Moto X Style sports a 5.7-inch QHD (1440x2560pixels) AMOLED display with pixel density of 520ppi. On the other hand, both OnePlus 2 and Nexus 5X are equipped with a full HD (1080x1920pixels) display. While the OnePlus 2 has a 5.5-inch display, the Nexus 5X has slightly smaller 5.2-inch display. The screens on all three smartphones are covered by Corning Gorilla Glass to keep scratches at bay. Clearly, Moto X Style boasts of a superior display.
At the hearts of the Moto X Style and LG Nexus 5X run Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor whereas the OnePlus 2 is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor. While the LG Nexus 5X is paired with 2GB of RAM, the Moto X Style and OnePlus 2 are paired with 3GB and 4GB of RAM, respectively.

In terms of internal storage, the Moto X Style will come in 16GB and 32GB options with a microSD card slot for further expansion. The OnePlus 2 comes with 64GB onboard storage whereas the Nexus 5X comes with 16GB/32GB options. Neither of these two smartphones supports expandable storage, so Moto X Style has an advantage over others.
On the photography front, the Moto X Style sports a 21-megapixel sensor with dual-CCT flash. The OnePlus is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and laser assisted autofocus, whereas the Nexus 5X is equipped with a 12-megapixel camera with dual LED flash and laser assisted autofocus. All smartphones support 4K video recording (30fps). And for those selfie lovers, all three smartphones are equipped with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Moto X Style has an advantage as it comes with a front facing LED flash as well.
Connectivity options on all smartphones include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and GPS. The OnePlus 2 also supports dual SIM connectivity. The OnePlus 2 and Nexus 5X also feature USB Type-C connectivity. In terms of battery, the Moto X Style 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower feature, which can charge the smartphone from zero to 50 per cent in 15 minutes. The OnePlus 2 and Nexus 5X comes with 3,300mAh and 2,700mAh battery, respectively.

On the software front, the Moto X Style ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop, the OnePlus 2 ships with Android 5.1 Lollipop with Oxygen 2.1 UI running atop, whereas the Nexus 5X ships with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box. While the Nexus 5X and OnePlus2 feature a fingerprint sensor for added security, the Moto X Style comes with water-repellent nano coating.
As all these smartphones are closely matched in terms of their pricing, but when it comes to specifications, the Moto X Style clearly leads. While choosing the best one is pretty difficult, we will reserve our judgment till we have reviewed the Nexus 5X and Moto X Style. The Nexus 5X, however, sounds like a better deal, as it’s a Google smartphone, it will get the latest software updates as and when Google rolls out.
