App Slicing on iOS 9 will help you cut down on your disk space

Unknown

When we put together our iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus reviews, we used 16GB models. It’s a storage option we’ve criticized Apple time and again for offering and one that Hayato Huseman actively begged our viewers to avoid buying. If you do happen to end up with the pint-size glass of the lot, though, you might not end up struggling with space as fast as you might have.

Word from Apple is that a feature called “app slicing” is now available to iOS 9.0.2+ users. It was originally scheduled to appear at the dot-0 release, but iCloud backup problems got in the way of those plans.

Developers can send full editions of their apps to the App Store, but the slicing process divvies up the specific resources for each device the app supports — be it an iPhone 5, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s — and sends the version of the app that fits your device.

You’ll save space without all the graphic resources for the phones you don’t have.
