Word from Apple is that a feature called “app slicing” is now available to iOS 9.0.2+ users. It was originally scheduled to appear at the dot-0 release, but iCloud backup problems got in the way of those plans.
Developers can send full editions of their apps to the App Store, but the slicing process divvies up the specific resources for each device the app supports — be it an iPhone 5, iPhone 6 or iPhone 6s — and sends the version of the app that fits your device.
You’ll save space without all the graphic resources for the phones you don’t have.
