Windows 10 updates for existing Lumias begin in December

Unknown

Plenty of time has elapsed since the first whiffs of Windows 10 phone have floated around. Turbulence and truncation has turned into a triumph of sorts at the Windows 10 devices event today with the debut of the Lumia 550, Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. While these three phones will come with Windows 10 out of the box, we now have an idea of when a software update will arrive for phones already out of the box.
On the Microsoft Lumia Facebook page, the social media team put up a promo video for the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. One of the comments asked about the timetable for a Windows 10 update to phones like the Lumia 640 XL.
“Michelle” was kind enough to respond:
[…] broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December.
Theoretically, if your Windows Phone 8.1 device has Lumia Denim and at least 8GB of internal storage, your phone should get the update. But as Yogi Berra would say, it ain’t over ’til it’s over.
