BlackBerry Priv orders could start this week, as pricing details leak

Unknown
When’s the Android-running BlackBerry Priv officially going to go up for sale? Even without a formal launch announcement, BlackBerry’s already confirmed the Priv time and time again, but for all its willingness to show the slider off, the manufacturer has yet to really spell out how and when you can get your hands on one. We’ve already seen retailers get pre-orders started, and overnight we saw how Canadian carriers were getting ready for the phone’s arrival – but just when will that be? It’s still nothing official, but today we get our best hint yet, as advertisements begin discussing a Friday start to orders.
The ads rather unambiguously suggest that BlackBerry will start direct Priv sales as of this coming Friday, October 23.
While the ads don’t also share any pricing details, Canadian carrier sources have chimed in, saying that the Priv should sell for about $400 on-contract, or $800 outright.
Before you start freaking out about that sky-high figure, keep in mind this is supposedly coming from Rogers, and these are Canadian dollars we’re talking about. With the exchange rate being what it is, that translates to about $300 on-contract or $600 full-price, American. That would put the phone at only a slight premium over the existing BlackBerry Passport, itself still selling for $550.
